Goethe’s Faust. A Genetic Edition

Goethe’ s Faust is the centrepiece of German literature and a landmark of world literature. The project of a genetic edition of Goethe’s masterwork intends to make all extant manuscripts accessible and to reconstruct the genetic relations between them. Complete transcriptions will help deciphering the facsimilies and the development of proper visualisation strategies will give a model of how scholarly editions for the 21st century may look like. At the same time it aims at making the texts of Faust open to any reading interest the general reader might have.

The project is headed by Professor Anne Bohnenkamp-Renken (Freies Deutsches Hochstift), Dr Silke Henke (Goethe- und Schiller-Archiv) and Professor Fotis Jannidis (Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg). It is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation).

Students interested in an internship are being asked to write to praktikum@goethehaus-frankfurt.de!
